Why Should I Minor in Business Administration at Southeast?
- Southeast’s minor in Business Administration is designed for non-business majors. It would be appropriate for academically advanced students in most areas of Liberal Arts, Science and Technology, and Health Administration Services, as well as areas in Education.
- Southeast’s minor in Business Administration is relevant to two important groups:
- the non-business major who is planning to continue study in business at the graduate level; and
- the non-business major who wants to be better prepared for entry positions in business related to his/her major.
- A number of academic programs encourage this minor for their majors. Some examples of these programs include: Agriculture, Art, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Foreign Language, Health and Leisure, History, Mass Communication, Mathematics, Music, Psychology, Sociology and Sports Management.
- A couple of examples of the compatibility between the various undergraduate programs with the Business Administration minor follow:
- the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) currently estimates there are 48,000 annual employment opportunities in the U.S. food, agricultural and natural resources systems. Of these, at least half require business administration knowledge and skills; and
- the mathematics major has 36 hours of electives. The 30-hour minor in Business Administration is a great choice because it fits so easily into the requirements for graduation.
- The Business Administration program is housed in the Donald L. Harrison College of Business, one of the finest colleges of business in the Midwest, serving more than one-third of all declared majors in the University.
- The college is accredited by AACSB-International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), placing it in the top 25 percent of business programs nationally.

- As a Southeast student, you will receive lots of student attention. The student-faculty ratio at Southeast is 17 to 1. The Donald L. Harrison College of Business has nearly 50 full-time faculty; over 90 percent have a doctoral degree. Ninety-eight percent of courses are taught by experienced practitioners with specialized knowledge.
- Courses are scheduled to allow full-time students completion of their undergraduate degree in four years or less.
- The Harrison College of Business offers a 33-credit-hour Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree program. Southeast’s minor in Business Administration provides the prerequisites for admission into the M.B.A. program.
