• Retail and wholesale merchandising is one of America’s most vital and dynamic industries. Career opportunities are plentiful, and the present growth of many retail chains has created excellent opportunities for advancement. 
• As a fashion merchandising student, you receive real-world experience through local and regional retailers, plus the opportunity for summer trips to apparel and textile businesses in Europe.
• You can gain real-world experience and course credit through the fashion merchandising internship program.  Fashion merchandising students have held internships at Macy’s, New York Company, Victoria’s Secret, David’s Bridal, Hollister, Kohl’s, Payless Shoe Source, and Hallmark Cards.
• Several of Southeast’s fashion merchandising courses have a lab component.  You will examine fibers and yarns, conduct burn tests on fabrics and take clothes apart to see how they are made.  In addition, Southeast has a collection of clothes for students to use as learning tools and examples of various types of construction.
