Why Should I Major in Finance at Southeast?
- In today’s highly competitive market, the demand for finance graduates continues to grow. Finance have been identified by the U.S. Department of Labor as an area of rapidly growing job markets into the 21st century.
- Employers of Southeast Missouri State University finance graduates include among others, the Missouri State Auditor’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Missouri Department of Revenue, the State Department of Economic Development, school districts, community colleges and universities, financial institutions, and international firms such as TG(USA), Nordenia USA, Lee-Rowan, Anheuser Busch, Monsanto, Southwestern Bell, Ralston Purina, Boeing, Maritz Inc., A.G. Edwards, Mallinckrodt, Purina Mills and numerous other financial, industrial and not-for-profit organizations.
- Southeast business students receive hands-on training, including business internships with major corporations and industries. While completing Southeast’s curriculum, finance majors participate in management of a “real-money” portfolio through the extensive course, “Portfolio Theory and Management,” and visit the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade. These real-life practical experiences enhance students’ understanding of future professional careers.
- The Southeast finance major may complete the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in addition to other licensure examinations at the state and national level.
