Why Should I Study Health Promotion at Southeast?

  • As a health promotion student, you will have the opportunity to earn essential hands-on experience through an internship in a health and fitness facility or clinic. These opportunities are available locally or at sites across the nation to offer you flexibility and a wide variety of settings from which to choose.
  • Southeast’s health promotion program also offers you additional first-hand learning opportunities through a practicum class and other experiential learning opportunities that are incorporated into our curriculum, which will help you refine your skills and better prepare you for a career in health promotion.
  • As a student in Southeast’s health promotion program, you will benefit from working with the latest equipment and computer software currently used in health promotion programs and fitness centers. 
  • Our student organizations give you the chance to further enhance your professional skills and provide you with the opportunity to network with professionals in the health management field. 
  • During your senior year in Southeast’s health promotion program, you will have the opportunity to gain additional professional experience by planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive health promotion program for a local company.
  • Southeast’s health promotion program has been honored as having the outstanding undergraduate health promotion curriculum in the entire country by the Association for Worksite Health Promotion.
  • You will have opportunities to conduct, present and publish research with health management faculty members, which can result in additional professional experience and recognition through published journal articles, abstracts and professional publications.
  • Health management students regularly attend professional conferences with health management faculty, therefore gaining professional contacts and knowledge.
  • Students in Southeast’s health promotion program enjoy small classes and a low student to faculty ratio of 15:1.
