Extended Core (33 hours)
- All majors must take 11 courses
- Courses must be at the 100 or 200 level
- Minimum of seven courses (21) hours must be the 300,400, or 500 level.
The following courses may count towards an extended core:
- One course must be in the area of World history (WH)
- Two courses must be in the area of United States history (WH)
- Two courses must be in the area of European history (EU)
- Two courses of the student’s choice (WH, US, EU,GH)
Foreign Language/Research Skills Requirement (12 hours)
All Bachelor of Arts majors in History must complete 6 hours in a foreign language of the student’s choice. In addition to these 6 hours in a foreign language, all Bachelor of Arts majors in History must complete 6 hours in one of the following:
- The same foreign language as the first 6 hours;
- A different foreign language from the first 6 hours;
- Sociology 242 (Statistics for Social Scientists) and Sociology 345 (Methods of Social Research)
- Math 134 (College Algebra) and Math 223 (Elementary Probability and Statistics)
