Kent Library houses the Missouri State Records Depository and the Regional Archives History Center, containing documents, photographs, artifacts and oral history interviews from throughout the area. The library also offers history students a wide variety of investigative tools and materials. The University Museum includes both prehistoric and historic collections, with special focus on Native American artifacts and Civil War weaponry. Both the museum and the history center provide field experiences for students of history and historic preservation.

The Center for Regional History and Cultural Heritage serves the University and the region through its work in documenting, preserving, and presenting various aspects of local and regional history; architectural trends; archaeology; ethnic and folk traditions. The Center for Regional History has an interdisciplinary staff of consultants to work with museums, historical societies and government agencies in the region.
