Majors & Minors Bachelor of Arts: The Department of Music offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music for students who wish to integrate music with studies in other disciplines of the University. Students who seek the B.A. degree must meet the requirements of the University and the Music Department and perform an audition before the applied music faculty. Bachelor of Music: The Department of Music offers the Bachelor of Music in Performance or Composition for students who wish to perform professionally or create new music in the classical, electronic and avant garde traditions. Students who wish to pursue the B.M. degree must meet the admission requirements of the University and the Music Department and perform an audition before the applied music faculty. A minimum competency level is specified for this degree. Bachelor of Music Education: The Department of Music offers the Bachelor of Music Education degree for students who wish to teach public/private school music. Students who receive this degree are accredited to teach music at the elementary and secondary levels in the state of Missouri. This degree is granted in cooperation with the College of Education. Students who wish to pursue the B.M.E. degree must meet the admission requirements of the University and the Department of Music, perform an audition before the applied music faculty, and be accepted into the education program by the College of Education.
