Scholarships All music majors, whether or not they are seeking a scholarship, must audition to be accepted to their field of study within the music department. Audition dates are the first Saturdays in February and March. Prospective students may also schedule a personal audition. For information concerning auditions, please visit the Auditions page. Golden Eagles Marching Band scholarships are awarded to each student (regardless of major or GPA) who is an enrolled member of the Golden Eagles Marching Band during the fall semester. Scholarships for music majors are awarded in March of each year and are renewable as long as students maintain their GPA and demonstrate satisfactory progress in their applied performance area. Music minor scholarships are awarded on the basis of musical and academic accomplishment, potential for future growth, and the needs of the department. Music service scholarships may be awarded to non-majors for performance in departmental ensembles or to music majors with non-performance-related duties in the department. Music service scholarships are granted by audition and on the basis of talent and departmental need. Golden Eagles Marching Band Scholarship All students who have been accepted and are enrolled in the Golden Eagles Marching Band will receive scholarship monies during the fall semester as follows: Download a Golden Eagles Marching Band application (Adobe PDF format). Music majors who receive music scholarships must maintain, each semester in residence, a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 and a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for music courses. Students whose GPA falls below either minimum will have their scholarship rescinded for the subsequent semester. In addition to the GPA requirement, music majors must maintain full-time enrollment and complete, with a grade of “C” or better, the courses and performing ensembles required of their degree program and/or specified on their scholarship agreement form. Additionally, music majors must demonstrate satisfactory progress in their applied performance areas as determined by juries and applied music instructors. A music major whose scholarship has been rescinded or not renewed for academic or performance deficiencies may appeal the decision to the Department of Music Recruiting and Scholarship committee. Appeals must be submitted to the Committee in writing with an explanation of mitigating circumstances. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. A music major whose scholarship has been rescinded may reapply for a Department of Music scholarship after all academic and performance deficiencies have been corrected. Music major scholarships are renewable each academic year by submission of a Music Scholarship Renewal Application by February 15. The department is not obligated to award scholarships beyond the normal eight semesters. Music minor scholarships are awarded on the basis of musical and academic accomplishment, potential for future growth, and the needs of the department. Music minors who receive music scholarships must maintain, a minimum overall Grade Point Average of 2.75 and a minimum music Grade Point Average of 3.00 each semester in residence. A scholarship may be prorated or rescinded if the recipient has not fulfilled the obligations and requirements satisfactorily. Music Service Scholarships are renewable each academic year by submission of a Music Scholarship Renewal Application by February 15. |
