Why Should I Major in Nursing at Southeast?

  • Graduates of Southeast’s nursing program have a nearly 100 percent job placement rate.
  • Southeast prepares you for success as a professional registered nurse (RN). Graduates from our nursing program have a high first-time success rate in passing the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
  • Southeast’s clinical opportunities give you vital hands-on experience in a variety of settings, including major medical centers, primary care centers, schools, home health agencies and long-term care facilities. We integrate this experience with your nursing coursework beginning with your first semester in the program, thus providing you with extensive field experience throughout your education.
  • As a Southeast nursing student, you can also supplement your studies by contacting regional medical centers to arrange additional summer internships.
  • Southeast’s partnerships with numerous regional clinical agencies help you develop professional contacts and expand your knowledge of the nursing field.
  • Many Southeast nursing courses are Web-assisted. Students have access to a nursing computer lab with individualized computer programs.
  • Southeast’s student nursing organizations provide you with additional opportunities for expanded learning, professional development and interaction with other students and professionals in your chosen field.
  • Southeast’s nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • Southeast’s Department of Nursing earned the longest accreditation period possible, 10 years, from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Association (CCN) in April 2002.
  • Southeast students benefit from small classes and a low student-faculty ratio.
  • Southeast also offers a master in nursing (MSN) degree for family nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists (adult) and nurse educators.
