Internships As a student in Southeast’s recreation program, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge you gain in the classroom to real-world experience in the field. Our program offers you first-hand experience in the recreation field through participation in various campus programs, as well as agencies and organizations throughout Cape Girardeau. In addition, you will complete your educational experience with an extensive 12 ½ week, 500-hour internship in your area of recreation specialization. Our program has placed students in internships in almost every state and in many countries, providing them with varied and invaluable experience that they can rely on when searching for employment in the recreation field. Some of our recent internship sites have included national parks in Alaska; resorts on the eastern seaboard such as Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Jacksonville, Fla.; camps in many states such as Colorado and Minnesota; military bases in Italy and North Carolina and therapeutic programs for various populations such as seniors, psychiatric patients, rehabilitation clients and at-risk youth in many locations, including Oregon and Georgia. Our recreation internships are a great learning experience as well as being a lot of fun. You will have a chance to apply your knowledge, meet many new people, see new styles of leadership and administration and test your skills. Most of our students say their internship was one of the best experiences of their lives! |
