Professional Education Requirements = 37-43 hours
Additional Requirements =   33-39 hours

All secondary education majors must take the following core courses. Courses within each block must be taken concurrently. (Exception – family and consumer sciences education and music education majors’ requirements differ from those listed. See specific guidelines listed with these majors.)

Block I: 0 hours

Recommendation: Block I should be taken after first semester of the freshman year.
Prerequisite to Block II: Admission to the Teacher Education Program

Block II: 14 hours

SE271  Theories of Learning and Management   
SE272  Teaching Reading in Secondary School   
SE273   Fundamentals of High School Education   
SE275 Diversity in Schools 

RECOMMENDATION: Block II should be taken after first semester of the sophomore year.

Block III: 7 hours

SE370  Secondary Block III Field Experience

Block IV: 13 hours
SE463  Student Teaching Secondary (1st)

  Social Systems – Any Course (PE majors should select PE 201) 
US105 American Hist. I or US107 American Hist. II 
Philosophy Course – from the University Studies Artistic or Literary Expression or Social Systems categories
