Students who major in communication studies at Southeast are given the opportunity to make presentations to their fellow students on a wide variety of topics as part of many of their required classes. In addition, the department sponsors a highly successful debate program which has received national awards from National Educational Debate Association. In addition, Southeast’s Debate Team was ranked first in the nation for the 2001-2002 school year.

Our majors also acquire real world experience through internships. Our students have been interns at Anheiser-Busch, Bank of America, the City of Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Caterpillar International, among other places.
