Art - BA

Overview:

The Bachelor of Arts degree combines 36 hours of art and art history course work with a minor such as marketing, communications or advertising to prepare students for careers in art-related businesses, museums and non-profit arts agencies.

As a student in Southeast’s art program, you will benefit from an impressive array of state-of-the-art studios and art facilities, many of which feature digital technology. You will have numerous opportunities to gain further exposure to the art world through workshops, special lectures, frequent art exhibitions, visiting artists and trips to view important art collections and exhibitions. In addition, every other year members of our Southeast art faculty take students abroad for course work and international art experience in Paris, London or Venice, plus you will have opportunities during the year to take department-supervised trips to Chicago or New York.

Internships in graphic design, gallery management, museums and art centers are also available for students interested in pursuing careers in these fields. During your senior year, you will develop a portfolio of your art and design work and participate in a senior art exhibition. These experiential learning opportunities and professional development activities will help you build a network of contacts and expand your professional knowledge, thus better preparing you for graduate school or for a career in the art world.
