Health Management - Health Promotion

Overview:

Health promotion is a preventive approach to health that focuses on improving peoples’ health status and quality of life through positive lifestyle habits and the regular use of healthy behaviors.

As a health promotion student, you will have the opportunity to earn essential hands-on experience through an internship in a health and fitness facility or clinic. These opportunities are available locally or at sites across the nation to offer you flexibility and a wide variety of settings from which to choose.

Southeast’s health promotion program also offers you additional first-hand learning opportunities through a practicum class and other experiential learning opportunities that are incorporated into our curriculum, which will help you refine your skills and better prepare you for a career in health promotion.

During your senior year, you will have the opportunity to gain additional professional experience by planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive health promotion program for a local company.

Southeast’s health promotion program is designed to prepare you for the highly respected American College of Sports Medicine's Health Fitness Instructor (HFI) certification and has been honored as having the outstanding undergraduate health promotion curriculum in the entire country by the Association for Worksite Health Promotion.
