Student Organizations As a student who majors in theatre and dance, you can take advantage of many student organizations that offer priceless hands-on experience and career information as well as professional contacts and networking. DanceXpressions- DanceXpressions is a student club that actively promotes dance at Southeast Missouri State University through weekly club meetings and dance classes that are open to the university community. DanceXpressions sponsors residencies and workshops by guest artists and works closely with the Department of Theatre and Dance to assist in the production of two mainstage dance concerts and two informal dance concerts each academic year. Some of the different styles include jazz, tap, ballet, modern, country line, ballroom, and even the occasional Tai Chi or folk dance. University Players- If you participate in theatre and/or dance, you are encouraged to become a member of the University Players. This organization consists of both theatre and non-theatre majors who work on University Theatre productions. The University Players frequently produce a Christmas Show to benefit the needy in the community. Black Mask Honorary Dramatic Society - The Black Mask Honorary Dramatic Society, the oldest honorary society on campus, recognizes those students who excel in the classroom and in theatre activities. Membership into The Black Mask Honorary Dramatic Society is achieved through academic excellence, consistent and quality involvement in theatre and dance, and a vote of current members.
