The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is comprised of the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance. River Campus provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis. The campus is comprised of and includes state of the art classrooms, studios and performance spaces. In addition, students reside in dorms which include wireless internet, work out facilities and cafeteria in addition to computer labs and the Arts Resource Center all on site. The Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts is also committed to the community. Free concerts are offered throughout the year and students of all ages are engaged in learning and celebrating the arts. Whether it’s viewing exhibits in the Crisp Museum, interacting in Family Days, participating in youth workshops, summer academies or just coming for the fun at the Summer Festival; it’s all about celebrating the Arts.
The second annual River Campus Summer Arts Festival features live music, dance, theatrical performances, magic, visual art displays, hands-on-family-friendly art expression activities and an art walk. This community festival is FREE and open to all ages in the entire region.
Summer at Southeast offers a wide variety of special interest opportunities to area youth ranging in age from pre-school to college through multi-day and overnight summer programs and camps.
Southeast Missouri State University announces a range of engaging and creative learning experiences in a wide variety of media for children through adults in its 2015 Art Academy Workshops beginning in June.
The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance will offer its annual summer Theatre and Dance Academy June 1-5 and June 8-12 at Southeast’s River Campus.
Participants will experience a number of interesting and fun hands-on activities focusing machines. Lessons include wheel and axle, gear, lever, inclined plane, pulley and wedge under the topics of paper sculpture, mixed media collage, toys, tools, trains and da Vinci.
