The Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is comprised of the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance. River Campus provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis. The campus is comprised of and includes state of the art classrooms, studios and performance spaces.

In addition, students reside in dorms which include wireless internet, work out facilities and cafeteria in addition to computer labs and the Arts Resource Center all on site. Studies include programs leading to either a professional degree or a liberal arts degree. Plan you trip to find out more about all Southeast Missouri State has to offer!

The Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts is also committed to the community. Free concerts are offered throughout the year and students of all ages are engaged in learning and celebrating the arts. Whether it’s viewing exhibits in the Crisp Museum, interacting in Family Days, participating in youth workshops, summer academies or just coming for the fun at the Summer Festival. Add to this the collaborative efforts of our academic departments and touring performances and you just can never tell what we’ll do next!

Spring Youth Workshops

They’re here – our two newest classes for families with young actors.

Matilda

Spend your mornings singing, dancing and acting your way through the Broadway hit MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Students will spend their Saturday morning’s rehearsing songs, scenes, & dances from this wonderful musical that is based on the children’s novel written by Roald Dahl. MATILDA is a captivating musical that captures the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dares to change her destiny.

The Children’s Theatre Workshop is for students in grades K-4th Grade, and children of all levels of experience are encouraged to attend. The classes will run on February 27th-April 2nd, excluding March 26th due to Easter Weekend, from 9 am - noon. Snacks will be provided, and a final performance will take place on the last day for family and friends. Classes will be held in the new acting and directing black box studio located in Room 114 of the new Dobbins River Campus Center. $150 per student.

Acting Class

Actors will find their voice and gain self-confidence in this artistic environment. The afternoons will include physical and vocal warm-ups, improvisational games, character-building exercises, audition material, & a final performance will take place on the last day for family and friends.
