The Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and/or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) ratings are earned through successful completion of the CPS and/or CAP exam.  To earn the CPS and/or CAP rating, clerical employees study a wide variety of material and expand their knowledge in the field of office administration.  This training equips them to effectively handle a broader array of problems, to initiate charge, and to develop innovative ideas.

The CPS and CAP exams are sponsored by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.  Registration information can be obtained through the IAAP organization Web site: http://www.iaap-hq.org/

The CPS and CAP exams are administered in May and November of each year. IAAP must receive the registrationinformation prior to the application deadline.  Southeast Missouri State University is one of the sites that administers the exam.  Persons receiving their CPS credentials are eligible for credit by examination at Southeast Missouri State University.

The Office of Extended & Continuing Education offers CPS Exam Preparation classes each semester.  For more information about this course, visit their website.  If you have questions regarding the CPS Prep Course or the Exam, please feel free to contact them via e-mail at trngdev@semo.edu or by phone at (573)986-6879.
