First Step Dates
Non-Traditional / Adult-Students Placement Exams
The Placement Exam is administered to non-traditional students to meet admission requirements to the main campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Placement test scores CANNOT be transferred to or from another institution. The placement exam consist of Elementary Algebra and English Essay. To prepare for the exam, it is recommended to use the ACT preparation materials for the math portion.
Registration for the Non-Traditional Placement Exam is available online. The cost of the exam is $35 payable to Southeast Missouri State University. Payment can be made the day of the test.
Calculators are allowed for the Math test.
- Photo ID required for testing.
- Late arrivals may not be admitted.

Regional Campus Placement Exams
The Placement Exam is administered in Kennett, Malden and Sikestion. Registration is available online for each of the three locations. For additional information, please contact the campus direclty.
