Sundancers The Sundancers are Southeast’s competitive dance team. The team performs and cheers at all home basketball and football games, not to mention many other athletic and community events. As a NCAA Division I University, the spirit squads also accompany many of our teams to national tournaments and competitions. The dance style of the program is very versatile--from hiphop to pom to jazz. Proper technical skills (leaps, jumps, turns) are essential. While the University supplies the dancers with professional dance and work-out facilities, certified athletic trainers, the official uniforms, and most traveling costs, other basic expenses (tights, shoes, camp clothes, socks, jackets, etc.) are covered by the student-dancer. The dancers practice and condition an average of two hours per day, four to five days a week. Scholarships are available and vary based on seniority. For information regarding the Southeast Sundancers, visit the Sundancers' Web site or contact coach Danielle Alspaugh at (573) 651-5937 or via e-mail at dalspaugh@semo.edu. |
