The Department of Theatre and Dance invites interested high school juniors and graduating senior dance (and musical theatre) students to attend our Dance Day Open House on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Prospective dance students will participate in a free Master Dance Class, beginning at 9:00 AM, taught by the Department of Theatre and Dance’s professional faculty. High School Seniors are invited to attend the Departmental Dance Scholarship auditions following the Master Class at 11:15 AM. Scholarship auditions consist of a dance solo no longer than 2 minutes in length, in a comfortable performance style that does not have to be a completed dance.

Dance Day attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the River campus, speak with current students, and receive two complimentary tickets to the Fall for Dance Concert at 2:00 PM in the Donald C. Bedell performance hall. Dance Day students must call the box office, 573-651-2265, prior to Dance Day to reserve your complimentary tickets. Additional tickets may also be purchased.

Dance Day will be held at the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts River Campus of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The River Campus houses the Department of Theatre and Dance, the Department of Music, the Department of Visual Arts, and the Southeast Regional Museum. This state-of-the-art facility is the only one of its kind dedicated solely to the visual and performing arts in Missouri, and includes a 950-seat proscenium theatre, a 225-seat flexible theatre, a 150-seat dance studio/theatre, a 250-seat music recital hall, and a host of professional training spaces, classrooms, and offices.
