History: Johnson Hall was built in 1962. It is named for B.F. Johnson, a former Chair of the Mathematics Department. 

Building Use: Johnson Hall houses the Math Department and is one of three building in the science courtyard. Student can major or minor in mathematics. The mathematics program provides students a firm foundation in math and can provide an advantage in several fields, such as business, industry or government.  A Mathematics Learning Center is available to students who need assistance in their math courses. The Math Department is part of Southeast’s College of Science and Mathematics.  

Fun Fact:
In 1975, state law allowed regional universities to offer graduate degrees on their own, and a Masters degree with a major in Mathematics was offered for the first time at Southeast. The first graduate degree in mathematics was awarded in 1976. Since that time approximately 100 degrees have been conferred.
