A student on his way to class in Parker

Parker Hall

Parker Hall

History: The Parker Athletic and Physical Education Complex opened in 1960.  The complex is named after Southeast’s ninth president, Dr. Walter Parker. Originally the women’s physical education building, Parker was renovated in 1994.

Building Use: Parker is home to the University’s College of Health & Human Services  Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation which includes programs such as Athletic Training, Physical Education, Health and Leisure, and Sports Medicine. There are also many classes offered where southeast students may develop a variety of skills in areas such as self-defense, martial arts, and water sports.

The nationally ranked Women’s Gymnastics program is also housed in this building and their studio is located on the second floor. The building is also composed of a full gymnasium, dance studio, and a basketball court.

Fun Fact: Parking building was home to Parker Pool from the mid-1960s to 2002.  The pool was becoming difficult to maintain and keep in operation.  The pool area was renovated and is now the home to Printing and Duplicating.
