History: The Parker Athletic and Physical Education Complex opened in 1960. The complex is named after Southeast’s ninth president, Dr. Walter Parker. Originally the women’s physical education building, Parker Hall was renovated in 1994.
Building Use: Parker Hall is home to the Southeast’s Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation which includes programs such as Athletic Training, Physical Education, Health and Leisure, and Sports Medicine. There are also many classes offered that allow southeast students to develop a variety of skills in areas such as self-defense and martial arts.
The nationally ranked Women’s Gymnastics program is also housed in this building and their studio is located on the second floor. The building also contains a full gymnasium, dance studio, and a basketball court.
Fun Fact: In the mid 1960's an indoor swimming facility named Parker Pool was added to the building. The pool had since become too difficult to maintain, and was removed in 2002.
