History: The plant was built in the early 1900s and was originally surrounded by a heavily wooded area. Due to rapid campus growth in the 1960’s and 70’s, the power plant area is now the heart of the central campus.
Building Use: Southeast’s physical and power plant supplies campus with electricity, hot water, radiant heat, and most of the chilled air for the air conditioning systems.
Fun Fact: The wall of the power plant is the home to several billboards used by organizations to paint announcements for upcoming events.
