Are You Prepared? Earthquake 101

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the New Madrid Earthquake – the most powerful seismic event to ever hit the lower 48. If an event equal in magnitude occurred today, it is estimated that the loss of life would be great and property damage would be in the billions of dollars. Are you prepared? Join former Emergency Services Specialist Susan Laughlin Perez as she walks you through the steps you need to take NOW to be prepared in the event of an earthquake. Visit our website for more on Susan’s background and a detailed listing of what will be covered in this two–hour workshop.

Date: Wednesday, May 2 from 2 - 4 p.m.

Español Made Easy

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States. This class will not go into the depths of Spanish grammar but will instead introduce you to simple Spanish exchanges. This could be the start of a new skill to add to your resume! More Spanish speakers arrive in our area daily, wouldn’t you like to be able to communicate with them?

Instructor: Johannah Froemsdorf
Date: Tuesdays, April 24-May 8 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Johannah Froemsdorf is a native of the Cape Girardeau area, and after having embarked on study stints in Costa Rica and Mexico, as well as worked and studied in Spain, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Southeast Missouri State University.
