Program Description

Project Upward Bound is a federal program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University.  It is a college preparatory program designed to serve low-income and potential first-generation college students who are currently in high school (grades 9-12) who are interested in pursing a college education.  It helps them develop academic skills and motivation necessary to complete high school and enter a post-secondary institution. The goal of Upward Bound works in a partnership with the selected students, their families and with the schools to overcome academic, social or cultural barriers that might discourage or prevent young students from doing their best and reaching their dreams.

The Southeast Missouri State University Project provides students with year-round academic and non-academic support needed to achieve educational goals.  This contact includes a summer program and academic year program.
