A native of Texas, Joanna earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Cameron University in Oklahoma, moved to Missouri in 1987, and settled in the Cape Girardeau area in 1999.  One year later, she began working at Southeast and eventually began graduate studies, earning a master of arts in 2004.

As an editor/production assistant, she edits and writes for publications and ads, especially those used for recruiting new students.  She coordinates with printers to ensure accurate and timely delivery, as well as adherence to contracts and the effective use of University resources.

“I like the variety of tasks and the friendly work environment.  My favorite part of the job is working with the students.  It is such fun to work with them, and I enjoy watching them mature and improve their communication skills as they progress through their degree programs at Southeast.  I currently have a fantastic group of students – all very bright, energetic and eager to learn.”

After hours, Joanna works as a licensed community counselor with a local agency and stays busy with her children, pets and friends.
