The School of University Studies encompasses many units and programs that support you in achieving success at Southeast and gaining the well-rounded liberal education for which Southeast is nationally-recognized. Below find information on these programs and units.
The Dean oversees operations in the various units and programs in the School. The University Studies program is within the Dean's Office which also manages the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. At Southeast Missouri State University, all students encounter the core learning experiences at the heart of each University Studies course.
The First-Year Experience at Southeast Missouri State University offers many programs and services to assist you during your first-year at Southeast. Find information on orientation, the UI100 First-Year Seminar Course, the University Studies Program, and other people, places and programs that support you and help ensure that your transition to Southeast will be a smooth one.
Testing Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of academic assessment and other testing programs available to Southeast students and community members. The Credit by Exam program allows students to receive university credit for knowledge gained outside the higher educational setting. Southeast also participates in national testing programs, either as a test center or as a source of information.
Located in Room 412, Kent Library, Southeast’s Writing Center provides free, individualized assistance for all students, freshmen to graduate, who seek help with their writing in courses across the disciplines.
