Volunteer and Docent Opportunities

Volunteering can be occasional, regularly scheduled, short-term or long-term. Attend a Volunteer's workshop to learn more and find out what fits your interests and schedule. Contact the Curator of Education (573) 651-2301.

Docent: Greet visitors, lead interactive tours of permanent and temporary exhibits, answer visitor's questions about the museum and exhibitions. Opportunities are available weekdays and weekends. To become a docent, one must attend our training classes. (See below.) 

Education Assistant: Assist in planning, organizing, promoting, and conducting educational programs, workshops, and events related to the museum's mission.
Special Events: Oversee a hands-on or information station, post fliers, photograph an event, help with set-up and clean-up, serve refreshments at an exhibit opening, or assist with our outreach program at public events.

Museum Booth: Distribute information, answer questions, or lead hands-on activities with the public to promote the museum.

If you are interested in leading tours as a volunteer docent, training can be arranged around your schedule.

Art exhibit training is ongoing with exhibit changes. This includes information on the artists and thier works.
