Once a student’s tutorial request is approved, a confirmation email will be sent to their Southeast email account. The email will contain all of the specifics regarding their tutorial session: date of their first appointment, course in which they will be receiving tutoring, the name of their Learning Assistant, and the location of the tutorial session. The student and Learning Assistant will meet at the same day and time for the entirety of the semester. If there are scheduling conflicts that require a tutorial session be rescheduled, the student must submit a new tutorial request.
Students are encouraged to come to their tutorial session with a plan of what they wish to cover. In addition, students should bring any materials that could contribute to an effective tutorial session: textbook, class notes, presentations, etc. Students will be required to complete a session contract at the beginning of their first tutorial session. The contract will outline the expectations of both the student and Learning Assistant during the tutorial session.
Students interested in becoming a Learning Assistant at the Cape Girardeau campus must complete the survey below and submit a Learning Assistant Application. A copy of the application will be sent to your Southeast email account once you complete the survey.
University Tutorial Services will contact the references listed in the application to complete a Reference Check Form.
Learning Assistant Application SurveyStudents interested in becoming a tutor at the Regional Campus must complete the following application. The application should be submitted to their respective campus.
