Lenell Hahn joined our Admissions Team in July 2003. She has served as Director of Admissions since January 2013. Lenell served as the Associate Director of Admissions from June 2011 to December 2012, Associate Director of Admissions for Operations and Communications from April 2009 to June 2011, Assistant Director of Admission for Communications from July 2007 to March 2009, and Admission Web Counselor from July 2003 to June 2007.
As Director of Admissions, Lenell will provide leadership for the Office of Admissions by leading the development and implementation of effective strategies to attract, enroll and retain new students. Lenell also will provide pre-collegiate counseling/advising in the southeast Missouri service region to promote access to higher education.
The Office of Admissions provides pre-college awareness, recruitment and admission counseling services to prospective students, families, and high school guidance counselors. An annual recruitment program is prepared and executed to meet the enrollment goals of the University, as established by the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Committee. New Student Programs, a function within the Office of Admissions, coordinates new student orientation programs and Opening Week activities.
In addition, Lenell will oversee adherence to the University's admission policy and the processing of undergraduate and graduate student admission applications for all campuses, including the regional campuses and satellite locations and for international students.
Lenell is a member of the Administrative Council, Enrollment Development Team, Enrollment Management and Student Success Council, Financial Aid and Scholarship Review Committee, and the Strategic Enrollment Management Committee. She previously has chaired the Professional Staff Council and served on the Academic Visionary Committee, Athletics Compliance Committee, Banner Management Committee, Benefits Review Subcommittee, Budget Review, Equity Issues, Facilities Master Plan Ad Hoc Committee, Information Technology Committee, IT Connections, Johnson Faculty Centre Governing Board, Online Learning AQIP Q2 Committee, Orientation Coordinating Committee, Strategic Planning Steering Committee and the Student Affairs Appeal Committee.
She currently serves on the Nominations and Elections Committee and Admissions Policies and Practices Committee for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). From 2012-2015, she served a three year term as the Missouri Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (MACRAO) president-elect, president, and past-president; from 2010-2012 as the MACRAO vice president-elect and vice president of Programs and Projects; and served from 2005-2010 as the MACRAO webmaster. She is a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Association of College Admissions Counselors (MOACAC), Southeast Missouri School Counselor Association (SEMOSCA), American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (AACRAO) and National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC). She has previously been a member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and the Collegiate Information and Visitor Services Association (CIVSA).
Lenell started her college career at Three Rivers Community College where she graduated with an associate of arts degree. She transferred to Southeast and graduated in August 2001 with a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in marketing. In May 2004, she completed her masters in business administration (MBA) from Southeast Missouri State.
With her husband, Justin, her daughter, Ella, and dog, Monte', Lenell resides in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She and her family enjoy traveling and spending weekends in the summer at Kentucky Lake. Lenell is also proud to be the leader of her daughter's Girl Scout Troop #71166 and serve on the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland board.
