The Southeast Show Band is a select group of brass, percussion, and woodwind students that perform at Southeast Redhawks basketball games and University Student Affairs events. The Show Band primarily performs in the Show Me Center and around the Southeast campus.
The Southeast Show Band is one of the top basketball bands in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Band has performed at numerous OVC Conference basketball tournaments in Nashville, and have performed in support of the Redhawks at the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in Salt Lake City, in 1999.
The Southeast Show Band is one of the most visible musical organizations on campus and generates excitement and enthusiasm everywhere they perform. The band receives accolades from the Southeast community, visiting coaches, fans, and referees for their spirited performance and support of the Redhawks.
Selection for membership is by audition and requires participation in the Southeast Missouri State Marching Band. Auditions occur during the first few weeks of the Fall semester. The traveling membership of the Southeast Show Band is limited to 35 performers for OVC events and 29 members for NCAA tournament events.
Members of the Southeast Show Band receive a scholarship for their participation. Rehearsals are called on an irregular basis but are planned well in advance in order to meet student scheduling needs.
