The public is invited to an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. Feb. 7. The exhibit will be on display until March 13. Admission is free.

The artistic talents of junior and senior high school students from southern Illinois and southeast Missouri will be on display.

An awards ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Awards in sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, photography, fibers, drawing, painting, the Art Academy Award and Best of Show will be presented. The Art Academy Award will be given to a junior for outstanding work; this junior will receive a scholarship to attend one of the University’s summer Art Academy workshops. The Best of Show recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend Southeast as an art major.

This year’s juror will be Shannon Duffy, adjunct instructor at West Kentucky Community and Technical College and Murray State University. Duffy is an artist and educator holding an MFA in metals from Arizona State University. She owns and operates Helicopter Studios where she designs and creates handmade children’s toys and jewelry. She also exhibits and sells her work internationally.

Duffy has had the honor to be the Visiting Lecturer in Art Education at Murray State University for two years. While at MSU she organized the 31st Annual Kentucky Regional High School Art Exhibition and taught workshops to teachers and children. During the summer of 2015, she taught a metals workshop at Appalachian Center for Craft.
