The Harlan & Dorothy Siebert Scholarship Fund has been established at Southeast Missouri State University to honor the lives and legacies of Harlan and Dorothy Siebert, two dedicated community members and lifelong supporters of service and education. The scholarship fund has been made possible through the generosity of the Siebert family and friends.
“This gift is being given to you because we care about each and every one of you,” they wrote. “We’ve been blessed, and it is our hope you will honor us by giving even a small portion of your gift to a charity of your choice.”
Harlan A. Siebert was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who honorably served in Kyoto, Japan, before returning home to Jackson, Missouri. He and his wife, Dorothy, built a successful business, Straightway Farm Service, which they operated together for more than 30 years. Harlan was deeply involved in his community, serving on the Jackson City Council, as a charter member of the Jackson Jaycees and in leadership roles with the Farm Bureau, VFW and American Legion. He was also a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he participated in the Men's Club and served on the Church Council.
Dorothy Marie Siebert shared her husband’s passion for service and community engagement. She was an active volunteer at the Veterans Home, a member of the VFW Auxiliary and an avid supporter of honoring and assisting veterans. In addition to managing operations at their family business, Dorothy took pride in her faith and community work, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to helping others.
The Sieberts spent their lives building connections, giving back, and creating meaningful experiences for those around them. Whether through their business, their church or their volunteerism, they embodied the spirit of generosity and service. The Harlan and Dorothy Siebert Scholarship Fund ensures their dedication to faith, education and community lives on by helping students achieve their academic and professional goals.
