Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) has earned reaccreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Recognized by the United States Department of Education, NASAD is the accrediting agency for art and design programs at colleges and universities and assesses quality to ensure programs meet industry established standards.
“NASAD reaccreditation is more than a stamp of approval—it’s a culture of continuous improvement,” said Dr. Rhonda Weller-Stilson, dean of the Holland College of Arts and Media. “It means our students are receiving rigorous, relevant and professional education in art and design.”
The multi-year reaccreditation process includes a detailed self-study and an on-site visit by peer evaluators, who assess the department’s curriculum, faculty, facilities and student work. The process concludes with a formal review and decision by the NASAD Commission on Accreditation.
Tell me More about Art and Design
“Our reaccreditation with NASAD is a testament to the quality of our art and design faculty, the strength of our programs, and the success of our students and alumni,” said Weller-Stilson.
Accreditation by NASAD represents a nationally recognized standard of excellence in visual arts and design education. For students at SEMO, earning a degree from a NASAD-accredited program strengthens their professional qualifications for a career in the art and design industry, making them more competitive for careers, graduate programs and professional certifications. For prospective students, it signals a strong investment in quality, credibility and career preparation—offering assurance that they will be part of a program that is both respected nationally and responsive to the demands of today’s creative landscape.
