Southeast Missouri State University is launching its first-ever Redhawks Accounting Summer Camp, a one-day immersive experience for high school students interested in exploring the world of accounting. The event will be held Friday, June 13, on SEMO’s main campus.
Registration is free and open now through Friday, June 6.
This event offers hands-on activities, professional mentoring and the chance to compete for a $2,500 scholarship—all designed to spark curiosity and build foundational skills in accounting. Students will also get a real taste of campus life through a campus-wide scavenger hunt, interactive sessions, and an accounting trivia challenge.
“We are excited to bring the next generation to campus and share opportunities within the accounting profession, as well as the possibilities available for accounting majors right here at SEMO,” said Dr. Leisa Marshall, professor of accounting at SEMO. “This camp is a chance for students to explore the field, connect with professionals and see what it’s like to study accounting at SEMO.”
Campers will learn directly from SEMO alumni now working at some of the largest and most prestigious accounting firms in the nation and the world, including Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Armamino LLP, Aprio LLP and more.
These professionals will serve as mentors, helping students through breakout activities that explore key areas like financial, tax, forensic and managerial accounting. Alumni will also share their personal career paths and advice during a panel discussion.
One attending student will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship toward their future SEMO education. To qualify, students must attend the camp and submit an application that will be evaluated by accounting faculty.
