This year’s theme takes a closer look at the film “Good Night, and Good Luck,” which chronicles Edward R. Murrow’s stand against Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare. The program will explore how journalism influences politics — and how that history continues to shape today’s conversations about truth, trust and democracy. 

“This discussion will allow us to bring a range of speakers together, to provide context on a film that is very timely. The topics of free speech, the press, and the responsibility of the media are important and the opportunity to host this discussion is something I'm looking forward to,” said Anthony Scherer, instructor of mass media at SEMO.

This year’s forum will have several speakers, including:  

• Fred Jones, professor of mass media  
• Dr. Jeremy Walling, professor of political science, philosophy & religion  
• Camilla Ricaurte, senior student of political science, philosophy & religion 
• Roger Seay, KFVS12 news director 
• Chris Conroy, KFVS12 general manager

By combining academic insight with professional experience, the See Me Series creates a space where individuals learn directly from those shaping the media industry, and where community members are invited to engage in conversations that impact public life. Through events like this, SEMO continues to connect learning with lived experience, encouraging participants to not only study history but reflect on the issues shaping today’s world.
