At Southeast Missouri State University, learning extends far beyond campus. This fall’s Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, September 3, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on the front lawn of Dempster Hall invites students to explore exciting adventures to study, work and learn abroad.
From semester-long exchanges in Europe to faculty-led programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, SEMO students have access to opportunities that enrich their academic paths while expanding their worldview.
Attendees will receive a passport-style guide and are encouraged to visit each of the regional tables representing academic programs in Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, the Caribbean and Latin America. Each table will offer information about study options, cultural highlights and details for participation. Students who collect stamps from all regions will receive a complimentary boba milk tea available at the final stop.
“Events like the Study Abroad Fair empower students to explore academic and professional opportunities,” said Aven Pacha, study abroad coordinator at SEMO.
Faculty experts who have led study abroad programs or advised students participating in semester-long exchanges will be available to answer questions, share personal experiences and assist students in understanding how study abroad can fit into any degree. Faculty experts span a variety of disciplines such as mass media, communication disorders, Spanish, allied health, kinesiology and sport sciences, and business.
Students will also be able to connect with campus offices and partners who make studying abroad possible. Student Financial Services will provide information on available scholarships and billing policies, and the Registrar’s Office will offer guidance on credit transfers. Program providers include Cultural Exchange Network, the Council on International Educational Exchange and AIFS Abroad, an affiliate provider offering a variety of short-term, semester and intern abroad experiences.
