CIE Announces Small Business Workshop on How to Sell to the Governmentby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 23, 2012 – Helping small businesses successfully sell to the government is the focus of an upcoming workshop to be sponsored by the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Southeast Missouri State University through its Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, May 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Perryville Higher Education Center. The speaker will be Carolyn Jones, director of the eastern region for the Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) based in St. Louis.
“The PTAC workshop will help participants understand the basics needed to become an approved bidder for government procurement contracts, and learn how to find and bid on a wide variety of government procurement opportunities,” said Sandra Cabot, interim director of the SBTDC at Southeast. “The government buys billions of dollars’ worth of products and services from small and minority-owned businesses every year, and we’d like to see more of that volume coming to businesses in southeast Missouri.”
Although the PTAC workshop is being presented in conjunction with the CIE’s Operation JumpStart training in Perryville, Mo., the May 7 class will be open to any business to register. To register online for the “Small Business Workshop: How to Sell to the Government” or to view a list of other workshops and trainings offered by the CIE, visit www. semo.edu/cie or please call (573) 651-2929.
