The William A. and Christene Merick Residence Hall, located at the corner of Broadway and Henderson, is among the first buildings any visitor to the Southeast campus can see. Merick Hall opened its doors for students in August 2009 and has quickly become a popular residence hall on the Southeast campus.
Merick Hall is a suite style community with double occupancy student room connected by a shared entrance and bathroom. The residence hall has multiple small living rooms throughout the building, a large game, laundry room, and hearth room overlooking the football field, study lounges on each floor, and a dining facility on the 1st floor.
Room Floor Plan
- Approximate Room Measurements: 10’11” W x 17’5” L x 10’ H.
- Window sizes: 6’ H x 3’ W; there are two windows in the room.
- Desktop Measurements: 36” L x 24” W.
- Dresser (3-drawer and movable): 30” W x 24” D x 30” H. Each drawer is approximately 5 ½” D. Each person in the room has their own dresser.
- 3 quad outlets and 1 double outlet, 1 double outlet in the foyer of the room.
- Wardrobe Dimensions (All dimensions are from the base of the space in the wardrobe which clothes are hung to the closet rod (i.e. where you hang your clothes): 34 ½” W x 21 ¾” D x 54” H.
- Mattress size: 80” L (extra-long twin). Loft kit included.
- Approximate Measurement of bed (for storage underneath) 80” L x 39” D x 33” H. This applies if you raise your bed on the highest rung without lofting. The bed can also be lowered.
- Space under sink: 28” H x 20” D x 31” W

RHA Fee
$15 per semester
The RHA fee serves multiple purposes. $7.30 goes to fund all the activities of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). These student leadership organizations provide programming, conference attendance, and leadership development opportunities to our on-campus residents. $5.00 goes to support safety and security in the residence halls. These funds assist the Office of Residence Life in expanding keycard access to exterior doors of residence halls, installing cameras at residence hall entrances, and maintaining that equipment. $2.70 funds the programming provided by the Resident Assistants (RAs) in each of our residence halls. This money supports community development and educational programming provided throughout the residence halls during the year.
Technology Fee
$30 per semester
The technology fee is used to support the technology needs of each of the residence halls. This money supports the wireless and LAN networks in the student rooms, lounges, and throughout the residence halls. Funds are used to maintain and upgrade equipment, pay licensing or renewal fees, and maintain the software available to students within the residence halls.
Cable TV Fee
$30 per semester
The cable TV fee supports the offering of cable TV service throughout the residence halls. Over 150 cable channels are provided in every student room, most residence hall lounges, and some common areas throughout our residence halls. This fee also helps maintain the equipment and lines to provide this service in the residence halls.
