CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 14, 2007 – The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents today approved the reappointed of Thomas Swayne Byrd as a University representative on the River Campus Board of Managers.

The cooperation agreement for the St. Vincent Seminary property requires that both the Cape Girardeau City Council and Southeast Missouri State University each appoint three members to the River Campus Board of Managers. Current board members include city representatives Jerry Ford, Ruth Knote and Dennis Vollink and University representatives Dr. Dennis Holt, Dr. Gary Miller and Byrd.

River Campus board members serve staggered terms. Byrd’s term on the River Campus Board of Managers will expire Dec. 1, 2010.

Byrd is the owner of an architectural firm in Sikeston, Mo. Byrd has worked on several projects for the University, including evaluating and reviewing measured drawings and area uses of St. Vincent’s Seminary for a fine arts department. Byrd was actively involved in seeing the River Campus become a reality.
