Part-Time Student Employment

Pursuing part-time employment as a student while attending college can be beneficial for many reasons. Part-time jobs can help you pay for school expenses, develop valuable skills, gain quality resume experience, make connections, and test out different work environments.

If you are a returning student, you will notice that our part-time job process has been changed in order to streamline the process and best serve our students.

New For Fall 2013

Both on and off-campus employers looking to post part-time positions and hire student workers through Southeast Missouri State University Career Services will post their positions on our new e-recruiting software,REDConnect.

How to start your part-time job search

Step 1: Log in and complete your profile in REDConnect

As a current Southeast student, an account has already been created for you and login instructions are provided on the login page once you click the REDConnect link. Once logged in, you will be at your personal student homepage. Be sure to visit your account often as the Office of Career Services will be consistently updating you on upcoming events and providing career fair information.

Step 2: Search Part-Time Jobs

After you have completed your profile, find the section in the right hand column of your student homepage called “One-Click Searches”. Click on the link for“Part-Time Jobs within 10 mi of Cape Girardeau”.

Step 3: Create a Resume

Many part-time positions posted in REDConnect will require a resume, as will most internships and full-time positions you pursue in the future. Take this opportunity to start your resume EARLY and save it in your profile. You can continuously update it and be ready for when you may need to provide it to an employer.

We highly recommend each student take some time to review the PowerPoint, provided on the login page, to examine all of the exciting options of REDConnect. We will also be conducting informational programs on-campus throughout the year. Be sure to check the upcoming events section on your REDConnecthomepage for more information.
