What is the CBASE?

CBASE stands for College Basic Academic Subjects Examination. It is a standardized test that focuses on the subjects of English, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Where can the CBASE be taken?

The CBASE can be taken here at Southeast Missouri State University as well as our outreach center in Kennett.  Some community colleges also administer the CBASE.  For information about dates when the CBASE is offered through Southeast Missouri State University go to http://www.semo.edu/testing/costs_cbase.htm.

When are students eligible to take the CBASE?

The CBASE can be taken at any time.  It needs to be passed with the appropriate score before Block II.

How do students  register for the CBASE?

Go to http://www.semo.edu/testing/costs_cbase.htm and click on the online application and fill out the form.

What do students  need to know for the CBASE?

Go to http://www.semo.edu/testing/costs_cbase.htm. At the bottom of the page there are CBASE links that will be helpful.

What happens if a student doesn’t pass the CBASE?

Fortunately, the reviewing committee look at each section's scores (English, mathematics, science, and social studies).  If you make the appropriate score for one or more sections, but not all, you are only required to retake the sections that you did not pass.  So, when you take the test again, the fee will remain the same, but you only have to take the specific sections not passed.
