CIE Announces Training Event in Kennett for Business Startups
KENNETT, Mo., Sept. 14, 2010 -- The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) of Southeast Missouri State University is offering a business training event, "How to Start a New Business!"from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14.
The workshop will be held in the meeting room at Southern Bank, located at 301 First Street in Kennett. The instructor is Russell Humphrey, director of the SBTDC at Southeast.
Topics covered in the “How to Start a New Business!” workshop will include: considerations for going into business for yourself; legal and tax issues for small businesses; resources for Missouri business owners; marketing, finance, and a question-and-answer session.
The fee for attending is $30 with a discounted fee of $15 for an accompanying business partner or family member. Pre-registration is required with a deadline of Monday, Oct. 11. “This is an informal, interactive program that emphasizes real world information and is specifically designed for people thinking about starting or buying a business,” said Russell Humphrey, instructor for the workshop. “This will be a three-hour session packed with common-sense things to plan for and do when you’re opening a business. Interestingly, we find people often skip over or never even consider some of these important steps.”
