Student Films Win Awards During Global Entrepreneurship Week
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 18, 2010 - Winners of the Fault-Line Film Festival competition, a component of Global Entrepreneurship Week, were announced during an awards ceremony Nov. 17 at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
Student film teams, supporters and faculty from the Department of Mass Media and the Department of Theatre and Dance were on hand as the winners were unveiled in the following short film categories:
•“We’ve Got a Problem”- Best Comedy, Team Name: Sexy Time Sexy;
•“Clean Up”- Best Mystery/Suspense, Team: Harrison;
•“Ecstasy of Tuco”- Judge’s Award, Team: Tuco;
•“Bag”- Best of 48-Hour Film Frenzy, Team: Nerd Word;
•“Frank Live”- Best of Festival, Team: Bad Apple;
•“Clincher”- Best Drama, Team: Complex Fatz.
These films and five others were screened during the Fault-Line Film Festival Gala held in the Rose Theatre later that evening. More than 250 students, faculty and film enthusiasts attended the screening and voted for their favorite film of the festival. The Fault-Line Film Festival Audience Choice Award went to the short film “Late,” a silent comedy produced by the student team Kurthonian Productions.
“This was the first year for the Fault-Line Film Festival, and we were very pleased with the response and the quality of the short films submitted for the competition,” said Dr. James Stapleton, executive director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and assistant professor of management at Southeast Missouri State University.
The Fault-Line Film Festival was sponsored by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Department of Mass Media, and Department of Theatre and Dance, and was one of the featured events celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week.
