The Grievance policy at Southeast Missouri State University is based on creating communication and understanding between the parties that are having difficulties.

Informal Process

The faculty senate encourages the grievant to use the informal process first.

1. It may solve the problem before proceeding to the formal process.
2. It provides for a quicker resolution.
3. It may give both sides time to look at the problem from a different perspective.
4. It shows that all parties involved have done everything possible before proceeding to the formal process.

Be certain to read the policy carefully. If you have questions you may contact the chair of the governance committee who will give you the name of someone who can guide you through the policy.
