The steps to apply for one of the Stephens Honors Program endowed scholarships are:
- Login to your Student Portal (http://portal.semo.edu)
- Select the Student Tab
- Select "Click Here to open My Southeast Self-Service"
- Click on the link to access your Self-Service page
- Select "Southeast Student Processes"
- Select "Apply for an Endowed Scholarship"
The Stephens Honors Program and honors students greatly appreciate the endowed scholarships provided by the Cook family and the Matthews family, and we thank them for their generosity.
John and Bekki Cook Honors Program Scholarship
John and Bekki Cook are attorneys in Cape Girardeau, MO. They endowed the John and Bekki Cook Honors Program Scholarship in 2011.
The Cooks are passionate about educational issues at all levels. In addition to supporting honors students, they are dedicated to helping children read through the Read to Succeed Program sponsored by United Way. Mrs. Cook also has been active in Missouri state government and served as the Secretary of State from December 1994 to January 2001. Mrs. Cook was honored with a Distinguised Service Award from the Alumni Association during the Homecoming 2012 celebration.
The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who actively participates in the Jane Stephens Honors Program and has verified financial need. This scholarship is renewable, but the recipient must reapply each year.
Dr. Judith Matthews Gallagher Endowed Honors Scholarship
The Dr. Judith Matthews Gallagher Endowed Honors Scholarship was established by Bob and Alene Matthews in recognition of their daughter’s 2012 Alumni Merit Award from Southeast Missouri State University. Dr. Gallagher was honored with her Alumni Merit Award during the Homecoming 2012 celebration.
Dr. Gallagher received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and her Master of Arts degrees from Southeast. She received her Doctor of Education from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Dr. Gallagher currently serves as the Dean of Humanities at Tarrant County College-South Campus in Ft. Worth, Texas. She previously held the positions of Department Chair of English and Philosophy, Assistant Professor of English, as well as serving as the Department Chair of Liberal Arts. She has served as an instructor of English and Fine Arts at Tarrant County Junior College-Southeast in Arlington, Texas.
The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who actively participates in the Jane Stephens Honors Program. This scholarship is renewable, but the recipient must reapply each year.
