University Tutorial Services is provided through Learning Assistance Programs and Student Support Services and is nationally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Tutoring is available for enrolled University students. Tutoring is provided through scheduled appointments as well as on a "drop-in" basis, and is provided on the Cape Girardeau campus, as well as at the Regional Campuses.Tutoring is provided on a first come, first served basis. Students may receive tutoring for up to five hours per week for each course in which they receive tutoring. University Tutorial Services will make every effort to match all requests received, but they cannot guarantee tutor availability for all courses.
University Tutorial Services provides a “drop in” Open Lab located in Towers 110 on
the Cape Girardeau campus. Additionally, University Tutorial Services collaborates
with other academic departments to provide content specific Open Labs.
Request for tutoring may be completed in the office of Learning Assistance Programs (UC 206) or online by selecting the link below.
Students interested in becoming a Learning Assistant should come by the office of Learning Assistance Programs located in the University Center (Room 206) and pick up a Learning Assistant Application Packet. Applicants may also print and fill out the Learning Assistant Application Packet using the link below.
All Learning Assistants must be undergraduate students and have earned an “A” or “B” in all classes they wish to tutor. Learning Assistants must also maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a major GPA of 3.0. In addition to submitting the Learning Assistant Application, a copy of the students most recent Degree Audit along with a reference letter is required. Once all of the information is received, the applicant will be contacted.
