College Success Plan

Program Description

Learning Assistance Programs offers individualized plans for students that want additional support to be academically successful while attending Southeast. Students requesting to do a College Success Plan may do so between the 1st week of the semester and the 10th week of the Fall and Spring semesters, or between the 1st week and the 4th week of the Summer semester.  Students are encouraged to meet at least 4 times with their assigned staff person. Plans will be designed to address student’s academic difficulties and to incorporate student’s strengths.

Some students are required to complete an individualized plan as part of their appeal or readmission to the university. These mandatory plans are titled Academic Improvement Plans. Students required to complete an Academic Improvement Plan will be contacted by Learning Assistance Programs with scheduled orientation date. Students that are required to complete an Academic Improvement Plan will be required to meet with their assigned staff person during the first 8 weeks of the Fall and Spring semesters and the first 4 weeks of the summer semester. Students not meeting the requirements of their Academic Improvement Plan will not have advising holds lifted until academic progress has been demonstrated; no earlier than the end of the semester.

Following are examples of topics of concern typically addressed with College Success Plans and Academic Improvement Plans:

  • Developing effective study strategies;
  • Developing test-taking strategies;
