We consider our students as our most valuable asset. Southeast Missouri State University welcomes highly qualified students who have demonstrated academic success and who desire broadening both their personal and academic credentials. Students at Southeast have come from all 50 states and some 45 foreign countries. By treating our students as customers, we spend considerable amounts of time and effort to offer a first class education, to facilitate our students' studies, and to make all of our students feel part of our great society. However, we also constantly challenge our students, both academically and personally. We expect active participation in and outside the classroom, teamwork, and individual contribution to achieve our major objective: to provide to our most valued assets, our students, the best education possible as a mean for our students to gain valuable theoretical and practical knowledge to succeed in their future careers.
We especially consider the diversity of our students to be one of the major factors that make our MBA program so exceptional. Students from diverse educational, vocational, and cultural backgrounds are enrolled in our MBA program. Currently, approximately 36 percent of our MBA students and half of our Alumni are international. Since Southeast Missouri State University launched its MBA program in Fall 1996, students from more than 25 countries have studied in the program. Currently, students from more than 15 countries represent their nations and bring the world to the classroom. In fact, by recruiting international students, we attach great importance to the selection of students from various countries, cultures, and backgrounds instead of recruiting numerous students from only a few countries. This diversity of our students contributes greatly to both the success of our MBA program and the society in Cape Girardeau.
All of our nearly 30 full-time teaching faculty in the MBA program, who bring the wealth of their experiences and research to the classroom, have earned doctorate degrees. In our MBA program, students will be taught by faculty with degrees from Harvard and Dartmouth, the Universities of Illinois and Texas, and the Universities of North Carolina and Notre Dame, to name just a few. In a recent study by Instructional Development and Effectiveness Assessment (IDEA), Southeast students rated the effectiveness of their instructors significantly higher than the national average. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 15-to-1, our students will have the opportunity to get to know their instructors personally, as well as professionally. Besides our excellent faculty, we are proud of our outstanding staff. A 2001 Educational Benchmarketing (EBI) survey conducted by the AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) among 95 universities awarded our MBA the 2nd place for administrative service. Our staff is fully committed to facilitate the achievement of our most important objective: to provide to our most valued assets, our students, the best education possible as a mean for our students to gain valuable theoretical and practical knowledge to succeed in their future careers.
