It is my privilege to serve Southeast Missouri State University as Provost, the chief academic officer, and welcome you to the Office of the Provost website and linked pages. Our mission at Southeast is to offer student-centered, high quality, and active-learning based academic programs and experiences. We strive to provide students with a solid broad-based education not only preparing them for the careers and jobs of the future, but also fostering a necessary background for our graduates to become fully participating citizens in their communities, both local and global.
My job, and that of those working in both the Provost’s Office and academic support units, is to collaborate with academic administrators, faculty, and staff across the five academic colleges and four schools on the main campus in Cape Girardeau, the regional campuses, and our expanding offerings through Southeast Online, creating and maintaining nationally recognized academic programs. Working together, the faculty, staff, and administrators in academic affairs support the success of our students, both inside and outside the classroom, as they prepare for professions, develop as educated persons, and become contributing citizens in the diverse 21st Century interdependent and global community.
I also have responsibility to provide leadership developing a world-class faculty at Southeast Missouri State through a supportive scholarly and academic environment promoting quality teaching, research, creative activity, and various forms of service. You will find faculty at Southeast have solid credentials and primarily are committed to teaching and student success. Our faculty also are recognized scholars along with producers of knowledge and creative activity in their fields, as well as contributing members of the university, local, regional, professional, and global communities.
Please contact the appropriate unit office to learn more about specific academic programs, educational opportunities, and departments at Southeast Missouri State University. You also may contact my office if you need direction on who can answer your questions or provide guidance for your academic interests and pursuits.
It certainly is special to be a Redhawk!
